Columbia Oakland Mills High School Teacher Sarah Hall has sadly passed away. She died leaving family, friends, colleagues and her entire student in shock. She was a down to earth and dedicated teacher that was cherished by many. The actual cause of her death has not been made public at the time this report was made. She was was born in Maryland, where she attended Talbott Springs Elementary, Oakland Mills Middle, and Long Reach High School.
Sarah Hall’s academic journey began at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature in 2013. Her passion for education led her to pursue a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and Teaching from the same institution, which she completed in 2019. This solid foundation in language and literature equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in teaching.
Before stepping into the classroom, Sarah gained valuable experience in various roles that honed her interpersonal skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations. From June 2006 to March 2008, she worked as a Customer Service Supervisor at Circuit City, where she developed her leadership skills and learned the importance of effective communication.
After her time at Circuit City, Sarah transitioned to the banking sector, taking on the role of a Bank Teller at Bank of America from May 2008 to October 2009. Here, she further refined her customer service abilities and gained insight into financial literacy—an asset that would later benefit her students.
In October 2011, Sarah began a significant chapter of her career as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher for the Howard County Police Department. Over nearly eight years, until January 2019, she managed emergency calls, coordinating responses and providing critical information under pressure. This role not only tested her resilience but also deepened her commitment to serving the community.
In January 2029, Sarah made a pivotal shift to education, starting her career as a teacher in the Howard County Public Schools. Currently, she serves as an English teacher at Oakland Mills High School, where she combines her extensive background in literature with her real-world experience to inspire and educate her students.
