Lincoln High School student Samuel Flint of Shinnston, West Virginia has sadly passed away. He died on Friday 11th October 2024 at the age of 17. The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of Sam Flint’s death has not been made public. He was the beloved son of Joshua D. Flint of Shinnston and Rebecca Alexis Maversa Isabel Holyfield Taylor, along with her husband, John, of Pittsburgh born on March 20, 2007, in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
As a senior at Lincoln High School, Samuel was an active and dedicated member of his class. He excelled in athletics, participating in multiple sports including wrestling, football, track, cross country, and basketball. His commitment to teamwork and sportsmanship made him a respected figure among his peers and coaches alike.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Samuel was known for his vibrant personality. He enjoyed working out at the gym, often pushing himself to reach new fitness goals, and he found joy in playing video games during his downtime. His upbeat nature and quick-witted humor made him a cherished friend to many, leaving them with countless fond memories.
In addition to his studies and sports, Samuel was also making strides in his professional life. He was happily employed at Chick-Fil-A, where his hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. His aspirations to become a physical therapist reflected his desire to help others and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

He is also survived by his brother, Adam Fleming of Morgantown; his grandparents, Walter R. and Donna Flint of Morgantown; Ronnie and Kathy Harrison of Kingwood; Marc Samuel Holyfield I of Salem; Shana Holyfield of Sacramento, CA; and Elizabeth Bowers of Stonewood; his great-grandparents, Grover Cole of Tunnelton; and Betty Curtis of Stonewood; his aunts and uncles; Deborah Wright of Clarksburg; Marc Samuel Holyfield II; Cornelius Holyfield; Samantha Holyfield; Elijah Holyfield; Jessica Holyfield; Isabel Holyfield; Tiffany Sidberry; Whitney Flint and companion Paul Wolfe; Amber Cogar and companion Abram Edison; Tyler Dillow and wife Brenda; and Cierra Wolfe and husband Cody; as well as several cousins; and his beloved dogs, Cash and Scout.
Samuel was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Edna Leona (who was his best friend) and Richard Henry Flint, Jr.; Nina Alice Cole; and Paula Mavis Holyfield. Friends will be received at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on Monday from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 15th, at 11:00am with his great-uncle, Pastor Michael Holyfield officiating. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
