After being shot on Sunday at a post office branch in St. Paul by a coworker, an Eagan man is fighting for his life. Roy Varghese, 50, was shot on Sunday afternoon by a 28-year-old guy, according to police, as he was working at the post office on West 7th Street near I-35E in St. Paul.
According to the police, Varghese was shot several times and had potentially fatal injuries. About a mile from the post office building, the suspect was taken into custody. It’s unclear what exactly led up to the shooting.
Although no charges have been filed against the suspect, they have been placed under suspicion of severe assault. Nevertheless, according to court documents, the gunman’s accomplice was accused of threatening to kill his boss in a different case in 2021.
According to the criminal complaint, the suspect, who was employed as a caretaker at an assisted living home in Edina at the time, told a coworker that the boss ought to be murdered and threatened to ‘bring someone’ in to carry out the murder. In the end, he entered a guilty plea and received a probationary sentence.
