Raven Syed Death:- Rider University junior actuarial science student died by suicide in a residence hall on Monday, the 14th of October 2024. The victim has been identified as Raven Syed, according to the university announced via community-wide emails. He was found dead at Kroner Residential Hall in Lawrence Township.

On Monday afternoon, October 14, numerous students observed a significant presence of Lawrence Police and Rider Public Safety around Kroner Hall, where Syed lived on the third floor.
Officers on the scene were not able to provide details about the investigation. An alert sent to students and staff at 4:12 p.m. assured that there was no threat to the community. Later, at 7:54 p.m. on Monday, Dell’Omo informed the community about a student’s death in a residence hall.

Syed, who preferred he/him pronouns, served as a copy editor for The Rider News, was the treasurer and clarinet player for the Rider Pep Band, and held the title of Trustee Scholar. He was also a member of the Multicultural Student Leadership Institute and a peer leader for the All Broncs Belong Alliance, according to an email from Rider President Gregory Dell’Omo dated October 15.
Additionally, Syed worked as an embedded tutor for finite mathematics at the Academic Success Center, as mentioned in his biography on the Rider News staff. His interests included music, martial arts, and foreign languages.
Rider’s Counseling Center in Zoerner House near the campus’ south entrance has walk-in appointments for students in need of support. Students can also seek free mental health support through Uwill, which offers virtual appointments with licensed therapists.
