An 18-year-old suspect has been taken into custody by the Arlington County police department in connection with a crash involving a single vehicle that resulted in the death of a passenger. Accusations of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, involuntary manslaughter, and refusal to submit to breath or blood testing have been brought against Brooks Bare, a resident of Arlington, Virginia. Currently, he is being held at the Arlington County Detention Facility without the possibility of bond being set.
According to reports, the event took place in the 2200 block of North Harrison Street at approximately 1:58 a.m. on Saturday morning. The officers who went to the reports of a vehicle collision discovered a passenger who was suffering from injuries that were considered to be life-threatening. Immediately, emergency medical services began providing assistance to the sufferer, who was then brought to a nearby hospital, where it was later determined that the victim had passed away. Nicholas Rados, who was also from Arlington and was 19 years old, has been identified as the person who passed away.
According to the first findings of the inquiry, Bare was driving his vehicle in the direction of North Harrison Street when he lost control of it and collided with multiple parked cars that were empty up until the point where the vehicle flipped over. Alcohol is believed to have played a key part in the accident, according to the police.
There were a total of five people in the vehicle at the time of the collision: the driver, four passengers, and the passenger who was driving. While one passenger was sent to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has since been discharged, two other passengers, including Bare, were observed and evaluated at the scene of the accident.
