An Amazing Teacher and Soccer and Hockey Coach and loved by his Students, Family and Friends.”

Who was Mario Raso?

Mario was brought up in Canada from the age of three after being born in Calabria, Italy in 1963. After completing his high school education, Mario attended Mohawk College, McMaster University, and Brock University. He then started working as a high school teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and eventually, he taught for thirty years, most of them at his beloved St. Thomas Moore. He was a passionate educator who cherished his students.

Mario was personable but always competent, respectful but sympathetic. He was driven to use creativity to engage his students so they might learn and succeed since he was passionate about the subject matter and his line of work. He turned into the role model that a select few wanted to be like when they started their careers as teachers. Mario’s top goal as a licensed football instructor and coach was to make sure his players had a positive experience and were able to fulfil their potential both on and off the game.
