Julie Starkey cause of death
Julie Starkey has been recognised by the Allen County Coroner as the woman who died on Monday when a tyre flew over Interstate 69 and struck her while riding a motorbike. According to the coroner, her death was determined to be an accident. In northern Allen County, outside of Fort Wayne, Indiana, the Allen County Coroner’s Office received notification of a deadly motorbike against tyre collision on October 7, 2024, at approximately 1600 hours.
According to an initial inquiry, one of the tires on a semi tractor trailer that was travelling south on I-69, north of the 319 mile marker, broke off. The tyre crossed the grass median and moved into the northbound traffic lanes. A motorbike with three wheels was travelling north on I-69, just north of the 319 mile marker. It’s unclear at this moment if the rider crashed because they swerved to avoid the tyre or because it struck them. The motorcycle came to a stop after colliding with the cable barrier in the grass middle.
The victim was identified as Auburn, Indiana-born Julie Anne Starkey, a 60-year-old White woman. Multiple blunt impact injuries from a tire collision are the cause of death, while an accident is the mode of death. In 2024, Julie Anne Starkey becomes Allen County’s thirty-first motor vehicle fatality. The Allen County Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Allen County Coroner’s Office are still looking into the event.
