Joshua Josh Bell of Middleborough has been identified as the victim who died from his injuries sustain in a fatal shooting that took place Fitchburg The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the incident, which occurred just before 7 p.m. on Main Street, an area bustling with restaurants and businesses.
According to reports, the shooting resulted in one fatality and left another individual injured. Around 1 a.m. on Monday morning, law enforcement ordered a suspect to the ground, handcuffing him before taking him into custody.
The suspect has been identified as Jarrod Hagerty, 32, of Townsend. He faces serious charges including two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, and possession of a firearm without a Firearm Identification (FID) card. Hagerty was arraigned in Fitchburg District Court on Monday, where a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He has been ordered to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for next week.
Prior to Hagerty’s arrest, police were seen attempting to coax another man from a building, instructing him to remove his shirt and exit with his hands up. This individual was later handcuffed, but it remains unclear if he is connected to the shooting incident.
