According to Virginia State Police, charges are pending following a crash in Bedford County on Friday night that claimed the life of a 23-year-old male. The VSP said that they are looking into a three-vehicle collision that occurred on October 11 at 7:15 p.m. on 221, close to the Casaloma Road intersection. The 2017 Ford Explorer and the 2007 Nissan Altima were both heading south on Route 221 when the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado crossed the centre line and side-swiped them, according to VSP.
The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado was then heading north on the same route. The driver of the Nissan, a 23-year-old Bedford resident named Isaac Graham Cyrus, was named by the police. According to VSP, Cyrus passed away at the scene of the incident because he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. According to the authorities, the Ford’s driver was hurt and sent to the hospital.
The 70-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet was also hurt, according to VSP, and was taken to the hospital. According to the police, he was not using his seatbelt at the moment. Following discussion with the Bedford County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, charges are still pending, according to VSP. The crash was caused in part by alcohol.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Bedford Christian Church with Rev. Ray Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, an Isaac Graham Cyrus foundation is being set up to help offset the cost for those children needing help in order to play sports.
