Eastchester Teacher Death: Arlene O’Neill and Retired NYPD officer Sean O’Neill found dead in apparent Yonkers murder-suicide

Arlene O’Neill Death:- A male and female died following a deadly incident that happened today, Wednesday, the 16th of October 2024. The victims were identified as Eastchester teacher Arlene O’Neill and Retired NYPD officer Sean O’Neill.

According to Yonkers Police, both victims passed away from gunshot injuries while their three children were home. Their death was ruled as an apparent murder-suicide.

What happened in Yonkers?

While their three children were home, a veteran NYPD officer killed his wife, an Eastchester teacher, and then himself, Yonkers Police said Wednesday. Retired NYPD officer Sean O’Neill, 54, and his wife Arlene, 47, an Eastchester fifth-grade teacher, were found dead at 142 Chittenden Avenue at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

DiDomizio said authorities found Sean O’Neill dead from a gunshot to his head and Arlene O’Neill critically injured from many gunshots. She died of her injuries at the scene despite first responders’ efforts.

The Yonkers Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit found that Sean O’Neill shot Arlene O’Neill many times with a revolver before shooting himself during a morning altercation. DiDomizio said the O’Neills’ three children were at home during the incident but were unharmed and in family custody.
