Brian Ratasiewicz Wilmington DE Death:- Brian Ratasiewicz, a dedicated baseball coach at St. Mark’s High School has died. He was announced dead today, Monday, the 7th of October 2024. Brian Ratasiewicz affectionately known to many as “Rat”, a longtime resident of Wilmington, Delaware passed away unexpectedly.
Saint Mark’s HS released the following statement:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Brian “Rat” Ratasiewicz. “Rat” spent his last day helping at Open House and later enjoying a Phillies game with his Saint Mark’s family.
He was the voice of Saint Mark’s, announcing at most athletic events and serving as part of the baseball coaching staff. Recently, he joined our Student Services team, declaring it his dream job and saying he was now truly “home.” Whether in the parking lot, the cafeteria, or study halls, “Rat” was always there with a smile.”
Who was Brian Ratasiewicz?
Brian was born and raised in Wilmington. He had a strong connection to his city and its people. Brian graduated from Delcastle Technical High School, where he became deeply interested in sports, especially baseball.
He did many things at St. Mark’s High School, such as calling sports games and coaching softball. People on campus loved him because he was so enthusiastic and helpful. He taught not only the basics of the game, but also ideals like teamwork and sportsmanship.
Brian showed his dedication to St. Mark’s in his last week by helping out at an Open House and going to a Phillies game with other students from his school. He recently moved to the Student Services team, which he thought was his dream job because he could make a real difference in the lives of students.
No cause of death has been reported.
